BIO - INNOVATION RESEARCH CENTER
BIRC is a collaboration between the Tokushima University
and the local community and industry,
aiming at open innovation using biotechnology, education and
research on the sixth industrialization,
and the creation of new biological industries.
ABOUT BIRC
We will implement innovative research activities and education looking toward
the future of agriculture, forestry, and fishery as well as food
and health, create new industries such as university-originated
venture companies, and develop human resources
to support innovation in local industries.

Regional open-innovation hubs
The Bio-Innovation Research Center (BIRC) at the Tokushima University was selected a
first selection of applicants for the J-Innovation Hub Initiative(regional contribution type※).
Regional contribution type is a center that actively engages in industry-academia-government
collaboration activities
with local companies and local public organizations with the aim
of solving regional issues and promoting the regional economy.
